I'm sitting in the Miner's Saloon with Doug Chabot. If you know the man, you know he has more enthusiasm for snow science, alpine climbing, and general life, than about anyone. The best part is: it's 110% infectious. :)
He's in town to investigate some recent avalanche activity.

Well, we picked up almost 3 inches of SWE in the last 3 days (2-3 feet of new snow). With a 24 hr period where the wind was gusting 30-50 mph.
Unfortunately it got progressively warmer throughout the storm, so the snow's inverted.
With a knife rain/ rime crust that formed last night, all the way up to 10,000 feet.!
Good and caked for later though. :)
