the goings on about town

Well, the Mother's Day caddis fly hatch is reportedly going off..
but some of us are still infatuated with snow sliding and the alpine!
(plenty of time for canoeing and spearfishing yet to come)

Cooke is currently a ghost town, with a slow, but ever increasing flux of tourists.  Hawaiian Brian has been down in the Box (?).  The Beartooth Highway is planned to open on schedule- with the east side plowed up to the State Line, and the Park Service doing their thing on the Clarks Fork side.

Beartooth Basin is looking to ski excellent, through July :).  Well worth supporting.  And in the meantime, the West Fork of Rock Creek is good to go for auto access to the trailhead.

  1. Interesting about the West Fork. I got an email from Custer NF rep 2 days ago who said it was barricaded @ the Basin Campground where the pavement ends. Did you go up there?

  3. Update on West Fork- drove out today, and it is indeed barricaded just past the Basin Campground.
